Horry County government has approved over 700 single family lots for development in this community. This community is in close proximity to Ocean Bay Elementary and Ocean Bay Middle School as well as the Academy for the Arts, Science, and Technology, which is a branch school of the Horry County Schools system that has a focus on specific career majors and has qualifying status as a Blue Ribbon School.

Development in The Parks at Carolina Forest is nearing completion. So far, all 815 single family homes have been developed in this Carolina Forest new home community. There are also another 276 multi family units approved for development - nearly all have been developed.
